B 10p: Bond... James Bond
The B 10p, named Bond... James Bond, puts the 007 logo beneath a large letter B against a view down a gun barrel. It has stayed one of the most popular letters of the 2018 A to Z 10ps with collectors. It is one of the 26 A to Z 10p coins and one of the 31 10p designs struck since 1968.

Rarity: Very rareSteady demand from collectors has kept the James Bond 10p among the stronger letters in the set. The 2019 coin had a much smaller circulation run than the 2018, so it usually sells for more. Wear shows first on the raised B and the 007 figures, and a coin with a crisp logo and bright, unscratched fields is worth noticeably more than a tired one. An uncirculated coin in its original Royal Mint card or pouch sits above any example taken from change.
B 10p mintage and rarity
With 304,000 struck for circulation, the B 10p (Bond... James Bond) is the joint sixth rarest of the 30 ranked 10p designs and has the joint eighth lowest mintage of all 194 circulating UK designs. That puts it in the Very rare band, for mintages under 500,000.
The next rarer 10p is the Q 10p (Queuing), with 303,000 struck, and the next more common is the Capercaillie 10p, with 7,100,000 struck.
Its lowest circulation mintage was in 2019, with 84,000 struck.

How to spot a B 10p
The 007 logo makes the Bond 10p one of the easiest letters to recognise: bold 007 figures run across the lower half of the tails side, beneath a large B, with swirling lines behind them. A tiny TM sits beside the logo. Nothing on that side gives the value or the year. Turn the coin over and read the end of the legend around the Queen, which gives TEN PENCE and either 2018 or 2019. Both dates carry exactly the same Bond design.
B 10p design
B in the Royal Mint's Quintessentially British A to Z stands for Bond, the fictional British secret agent. The novelist Ian Fleming created James Bond in 1953, and the character first reached cinemas in 1962 in Dr No, so the coin arrived more than half a century into the film series. Its design borrows the view down a gun barrel familiar from the films, with the curving lines of the barrel sweeping round the background. A tall B sits in the upper centre, and the official 007 logo runs across the lower half, a pistol forming the 7, with a small TM trademark sign beside it. The logo and related James Bond trademarks belong to Danjaq LLC, which is why the mark appears on the coin. The Royal Mint credits the design to The Royal Mint Team.

B 10p questions
Why is there a TM on the James Bond 10p?
The 007 logo is a trademark of Danjaq LLC, and the Royal Mint reproduced it with the trademark sign, a small TM just beside the logo. It is part of the design on every B 10p, not an error.
Was the Bond 10p released into circulation?
Yes. It was struck for circulation with a 2018 date and again with a 2019 date, and both can still turn up in change. Collectors could also buy it uncirculated, in a Royal Mint card or pouch.
