Every design issued for circulation is ranked by the number of coins struck for circulation, from The Royal Mint's published mintage figures, lowest first, and designs with the same mintage share a rank. Each also falls in a rarity band, from Very rare (under 500,000) to Common (10,000,000 or more), and its value is worked out from published UK prices.
