Piglet 50p (2020)
The Piglet 50p was the third coin in the Winnie the Pooh and Friends series and the last of the 2020 releases. It shows Pooh's small, timid friend blowing a dandelion clock and was sold only to collectors. It is one of the 12 Winnie the Pooh 50p coins and one of the 172 50p designs struck since 1969.

The Piglet 50p exists only in brilliant uncirculated and higher collector finishes, so condition and packaging set the price. Most of the standard coins went out in distributor cards and sets, and dealers price a coin in the Royal Mint wallet above one in a capsule or card. Scratches across the dandelion and Piglet's face show up quickly on the bright finish. The colour edition and the proofs trade separately from the standard coin.

How to spot a Piglet 50p
Piglet is the only character on this coin, blowing at a dandelion head with a bee nearby and his name to his right. He also appears on the 2021 and 2022 group coins and the 2026 Friendship coin, but always among friends, so a lone Piglet with a dandelion means this 2020 design. The portrait is Queen Elizabeth II. It was not struck for circulation, so any example started life in a pack, card or capsule.

Piglet 50p design
Piglet is Pooh's closest friend in A. A. Milne's stories: shy and easily frightened, though he finds his courage more than once. The Royal Mint released his coin on 23 November 2020 as the third in the Winnie the Pooh and Friends series and the final design of that year. Royal Mint designer Daniel Thorne, working with The Walt Disney Company, based the reverse on an E. H. Shepard illustration of Piglet puffing at a dandelion clock that is almost his own size. A honey bee flies in close by, keeping up the thread that joins the coins in the series. The name Piglet is lettered by hand to his right, above the bee's dotted flight path, and the ©Disney mark sits at the lower right. The obverse shows Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Mint's own pack for the standard coin was a fold-out wallet about Piglet, and it also offered a colour-printed edition alongside silver and gold proofs. After Piglet, the series paused until September 2021.
It was one of the three coins in the Winnie the Pooh set issued in 2020.
