Rarity: Very rareThe Jubilee 10p sells above face value in circulated condition, and for more again in uncirculated condition from Royal Mint cards and pouches. The coach is finely detailed, so wear to the wheels, crown and carving lowers the price noticeably. Collectors pay more for the 2019 Jubilee coin, which was released in much lower numbers than the 2018. A bright coin with the coach's decoration still crisp is the one to keep.
J 10p mintage and rarity
With 304,000 struck for circulation, the J 10p (Jubilee) is the joint sixth rarest of the 30 ranked 10p designs and has the joint eighth lowest mintage of all 194 circulating UK designs. That puts it in the Very rare band, for mintages under 500,000.
The next rarer 10p is the Q 10p (Queuing), with 303,000 struck, and the next more common is the Capercaillie 10p, with 7,100,000 struck.
Its lowest circulation mintage was in 2019, with 84,000 struck.

How to spot a J 10p
Look for an ornate carriage with two large spoked wheels and a crown on top, with a curly J below it. That carriage is the Gold State Coach. The tails side has no date, so check the heads side, where the legend around the Queen ends with TEN PENCE and 2018 or 2019. The coach design does not change between the two years, and the coin is the same size and weight as any 10p.
J 10p design
J for Jubilee celebrates the royal jubilees that bring Britain out for street parties, the scene the Royal Mint's verse for the letter describes, with dancing whatever the weather. As the Royal Mint points out, no British monarch apart from Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria has reigned long enough for a Diamond Jubilee, sixty years on the throne. In June 2012 the Queen's Diamond Jubilee brought the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, a river flotilla led by the royal barge Gloriana, and a concert outside Buckingham Palace, and in 2017 she marked her Sapphire Jubilee. The coin shows the Gold State Coach in profile, with its large spoked wheels, ornate carving and a crown on the roof, standing on a line of ground. A tall, curling script J hangs beneath it, reaching down towards the rim. The Royal Mint credits the coach design to The Royal Mint Team.
