How to spot a Peter Rabbit 50p
Look for Peter facing forward in his jacket, shown eating, with PETER RABBIT running round him and a small TM mark. The 2019 coin also shows him facing forward with the same lettering, so the eating pose and the 2018 date on the heads side are what separate the two. In 2016 he was drawn in close-up without a TM mark, and the 2017 one reads THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT.
Peter Rabbit 50p design
Peter Rabbit led off 2018 as the first of four new Beatrix Potter 50ps, and the other three featured Flopsy Bunny, Mrs Tittlemouse and a mouse from The Tailor of Gloucester. Emma Noble took this image from Potter's own artwork. Peter faces the viewer in his jacket and is shown eating. PETER RABBIT runs round him, followed by a small TM mark. The Queen's portrait and the 2018 date are on the other side. The coin entered circulation on 24 October 2018; collectors could also buy it in brilliant uncirculated packs or tubes, as a coloured silver proof or as a gold proof. It was the third of his five 50ps, and the last Peter Rabbit design to go into circulation, as the 2019 and 2020 coins were sold only to collectors.
It was one of the four coins in the Beatrix Potter set issued in 2018.
