Eeyore 50p (2022)
The Eeyore 50p, issued in 2022, is the seventh coin in the Winnie the Pooh and Friends series and shows the old grey donkey with his tail safely in place. It was sold to collectors and never used in change. It is one of the 12 Winnie the Pooh 50p coins and one of the 172 50p designs struck since 1969.

All Eeyore 50p coins were sold in collector quality, so the price depends on condition and on how the coin is presented. Most of the brilliant uncirculated run went into distributor cards and sets, with the Royal Mint's fold-out pack taking the smaller share. Dealers list it in capsules and certified cards as well as the pack. The colour-printed Eeyore, the silver and gold proofs and the gold piedfort each have a price of their own.

How to spot an Eeyore 50p
A single donkey sitting above his hand-lettered name identifies this coin. Eeyore also turns up in the 2021 and 2022 group designs and on the 2026 Friendship coin, but only here does he have the reverse to himself. The series bee loops along a dotted flight path beneath the name. The obverse pairs Queen Elizabeth II with the date 2022. It was not struck for circulation.

Eeyore 50p design
Eeyore is the gloomy donkey of A. A. Milne's stories. He lives in a boggy corner of the Hundred Acre Wood marked on the map as Eeyore's Gloomy Place, and his tail keeps coming off: in one story Owl hangs it up as a bell-pull until Pooh recognises it and takes it back, and Christopher Robin fixes it back in place. The Royal Mint began the last year of its Winnie the Pooh and Friends series with Eeyore on 31 March 2022. Royal Mint designer Daniel Thorne, working with The Walt Disney Company, adapted E. H. Shepard's original drawing of the old grey stuffed donkey, showing him with his tail firmly attached, and lettered his name by hand below him, with a small ©Disney credit. Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse. From Eeyore onwards, the colour edition and the silver and gold proofs were issued with smaller limits than the 2020 and 2021 coins had, while the standard brilliant uncirculated coin kept its illustrated fold-out pack.
It was one of the three coins in the Winnie the Pooh set issued in 2022.

It was not. Eeyore went only to collectors: brilliant uncirculated in packs and cards, colour-printed, and proof in both silver and gold.
