The TIE Fighter was the second craft in the Star Wars vehicles set that The Royal Mint issued through 2024, which followed the character duos series. It was released on 4 May 2024, the date fans celebrate as Star Wars Day. The TIE Fighter is the Empire's signature fighting craft, and on the coin it flies through space with the STAR WARS logo in two lines beneath it. The design is credited to Lucasfilm Ltd., whose copyright and trademark line appears in small type. A lenticular feature brings the Empire into view a second time: tilt the coin and it shows the Galactic Empire insignia, then the TIE Fighter itself. King Charles III, as portrayed by Martin Jennings, is on the heads side. Standard and colour brilliant uncirculated editions were sold, and silver and gold proof versions were produced too. The Millennium Falcon came before it in the collection, and the X-Wing and the Death Star II followed.
