Christopher Robin 50p (2020)

Because the Christopher Robin 50p was sold only in brilliant uncirculated finish and above, buyers look closely at presentation and at marks on the surface. The Royal Mint's own fold-out pack accounts for the smaller share of the coins sold; the rest went out in distributor cards and sets. A loose coin with scuffs on the staircase or on the two figures is worth less than one still sealed in its pack or card. The colour-printed version, sold only by the Royal Mint, has its own price, as do the silver and gold proofs.

The Christopher Robin 50p was not issued for circulation, so it has no rarity rank.

The staircase gives it away: a boy walks down the steps dragging Pooh behind him, with a bee overhead and the words Christopher Robin set below the picture rather than beside it. Do not confuse it with the 2026 Loyalty 50p, which shows the pair walking hand in hand among trees and has King Charles III on the heads side. This 2020 coin carries Queen Elizabeth II. It never entered circulation, so it will not turn up in your change.

• Colour edition: A colour-printed brilliant uncirculated edition sold only by The Royal Mint, with an issue limit of 45,000; 19,178 were made.

Christopher Robin is the boy at the centre of A. A. Milne's stories, and he was based on the author's young son, Christopher Robin Milne, whose stuffed toys gave Milne the idea for the other characters. The Royal Mint gave him the second coin of its Winnie the Pooh and Friends series, released on 22 October 2020. Royal Mint designer Daniel Thorne, working with The Walt Disney Company, adapted the design from an E. H. Shepard drawing of Christopher Robin coming down a staircase, dragging Pooh behind him so that the bear goes bump, bump, bump down the steps. A bee buzzes above the pair, carrying on the motif shared by all nine Winnie the Pooh and Friends coins of 2020 to 2022. The name Christopher Robin runs beneath the scene in upper and lower case, next to a small ©Disney credit. On the obverse is Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Mint's own brilliant uncirculated pack was a fold-out wallet about Christopher Robin and his friends. He came back to the 50p in 2026, walking hand in hand with Pooh on the Loyalty coin.

It was one of the three coins in the Winnie the Pooh set issued in 2020.
