Harry Potter The Flying Car 50p (2025)

The Flying Car 50p exists only as a collector coin, so its price depends on packaging and preservation rather than wear from use. In the original Royal Mint pack it sells for more than the same coin in a capsule or a certified third-party pack. Scratches, toning spots or a damaged card cut the price. The colour edition, with its issue limit, is valued separately from the plain coin, as are the silver and gold proofs.

The Harry Potter The Flying Car 50p was not issued for circulation, so it has no rarity rank.

A car in the sky is the clue: the Ford Anglia with two boys inside, flying over countryside with a castle below, and THE FLYING CAR lettered across the top. Look closely for the tiny © WBEI credit on the reverse, and for the King's portrait on the other side. Both this and the Hogwarts coin include the castle, but only this one has the car. The colour edition had an issue limit, and neither it nor the plain version was released into circulation.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets opens Harry's second year with a missed train. He and Ron find the barrier to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters closed, and with the Hogwarts Express gone they fly to school in a bewitched Ford Anglia. The Royal Mint made that journey the third coin of its iconic moments series, after the Winged Keys and the Black Lake of 2024. On the reverse, the car carries the two boys over the British countryside with Hogwarts castle below. The title THE FLYING CAR runs above the scene, and a small © WBEI credit acknowledges Warner Bros. Bella Biggs of The Royal Mint remastered the stylised illustration, and the coin was produced in partnership with Warner Bros. A colour-printed edition was sold with an issue limit. The obverse carries King Charles III, in Martin Jennings's portrait.

In the Harry Potter set it followed the Harry Potter The Black Lake 50p of 2024 and was issued in 2025 together with the Harry Potter The Patronus 50p.
