Wicked 50p (2026)

The Wicked 50p is a collector coin launched in September 2026. A coin in the Royal Mint pack sells above one in a third-party certified pack, and buyers look for an unmarked coin in a pack in perfect order. The colour editions in green and pink, and the gold edition struck from recycled gold, are priced separately from the plain coin.

The Wicked 50p was not issued for circulation, so it has no rarity rank.

A clock face with Roman numerals, its hands formed by Elphaba's hat and broomstick, sits at the centre of the Wicked 50p, with the show's title beneath. Around it are Glinda's wand and shoes, the Grimmerie spellbook, a flying monkey and the Wizard's hot air balloon. The colour editions print the design in the show's green and pink, while the standard coin is plain metal. Turn it over for King Charles III. No Wicked 50p was released into circulation.

Wicked opened at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre on 27 September 2006 and has become one of the longest-running productions in West End history. Based on Gregory Maguire's novel about the Wicked Witch of the West, with songs by Stephen Schwartz and a script by Winnie Holzman, it follows two unlikely friends at university who become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. The Royal Mint marked two decades of the London production with this coin, created with the show and launched on 17 September 2026. Ffion Rees, a product designer at The Royal Mint, built the reverse around a clock face with Roman numerals whose hands are made from Elphaba's hat and broomstick, with the WICKED title beneath it and Rees's initials FR to its right. Around it runs a ring of emblems from the story: Glinda's wand and shoes, the Grimmerie spellbook, a flying monkey and the Wizard's hot air balloon. Colour editions use the show's green and pink, and a gold edition was struck from recycled gold. On the other side is King Charles III, as modelled by Martin Jennings.
