The RAF Vulcan £2 of 2018 shows the Avro Vulcan bomber from above, its delta wing spreading into the outer ring. Vulcan £2 coins exist only in collector quality, because none were struck for circulation. Fewer were sold than of the badge or Spitfire designs, and its price usually sits above those two but below the Sea King and Lightning II. A coin kept in its original Royal Mint pack, free of fingerprints and scuffs across the broad flat wing, commands the best price, while a loose coin with handling marks sells for less.

How to spot an RAF Vulcan £2
The Vulcan coin shows a single triangular aircraft seen from overhead, flying towards the left. Its wing breaks out of the centre into the brass ring on the right-hand side. The name VULCAN sits along the bottom of the ring, below the aircraft, with RAF 1918-2018 across the top. The other coins in the set show three Spitfires, a Sea King helicopter, a jet seen head-on and the RAF badge.
RAF Vulcan £2 design
The Avro Vulcan flew with the RAF from 1956 to 1984 as a high-altitude strategic bomber. It carried no defensive guns, relying at first on speed and height to stay out of reach of interceptors. Its vast delta wing made it recognisable at a glance, and it became a crowd favourite at the country's air shows. In 2018 the Vulcan was chosen as the third design in The Royal Mint's centenary series for the Royal Air Force, after the RAF badge and the Spitfire. Richard and Neil Talbot drew the bomber from above as it heads to the left, so the whole triangle of the wing is on view, and its tip pushes out into the brass ring on the right. RAF 1918-2018 curves around the top of the ring, with VULCAN along the bottom. Its obverse carries Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, and its edge the RAF motto.
