Winnie the Pooh and Friends 50p (2021)
The 2021 Winnie the Pooh and Friends 50p is the fourth coin in the Royal Mint's series and its first group scene. It was sold only to collectors, not released into circulation. It is one of the 12 Winnie the Pooh 50p coins and one of the 172 50p designs struck since 1969.

This group coin was sold only in brilliant uncirculated quality and in the dearer collector versions, so condition and packaging drive its price. Most of the standard coins went out in distributor cards and sets rather than the Royal Mint's own wallet. With so many figures on the reverse, small knocks and scratches show easily on a loose coin, which is worth less than one still in its pack. The colour, silver proof and gold proof editions are valued separately.

How to spot a Winnie the Pooh and Friends 50p
Two coins in the series share the name Winnie the Pooh and Friends. This 2021 design lines up Pooh with Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, Rabbit, Tigger, Kanga and Roo beneath the title. The 2022 coin has only Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet, gathered under the branches of a tree. Both carry Queen Elizabeth II, so the date next to her portrait settles it. Neither was issued for circulation.

Winnie the Pooh and Friends 50p design
After the three 2020 coins, the Royal Mint opened the 2021 run of its Winnie the Pooh and Friends series with a group scene, released on 2 September 2021, the 95th anniversary year of the first Pooh book. Royal Mint designer Daniel Thorne, working with The Walt Disney Company, based it on E. H. Shepard's illustrations, gathering Pooh with Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, Rabbit, Tigger, Kanga and Roo. The title Winnie the Pooh is lettered by hand above them, with the bee that appears on every coin in the collection flying over it and a small ©Disney credit at the lower right. Rabbit never had a coin of his own in the series, so this is the only place he appears. The obverse carries Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The fold-out wallet for the brilliant uncirculated coin was given over to Pooh and his circle of friends. A second, quite different group design closed the series in 2022.

They are different designs. The 2021 coin shows a larger group in a line, including Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and Roo; the 2022 coin shows four of the friends under the branches of a tree.
