Monopoly (Strike Your Own) 50p (2025)

Because it could only be struck in person at The Royal Mint Experience, the Strike Your Own coin changes hands for far more than the pack version of the Monopoly 50p. Condition matters: fingerprints, marks and toning lower the price, while coins graded and sealed by a third-party service at a high grade sell at the top of the range. With no pack edition, each example is judged on its own condition.

The Monopoly (Strike Your Own) 50p was not issued for circulation, so it has no rarity rank.

Mr Monopoly leaping over the GO sign, with the game board behind him and MONOPOLY below, is the mark of the Strike Your Own coin. The pack coin instead shows him with the logo among tokens and property cards, with a lenticular GO sign, so the two are easy to separate at a glance. Look for the small ©HASBRO credit on the reverse.

When The Royal Mint marked ninety years of Monopoly in the UK, it gave the game two different 50p designs. The pack coin was sold to collectors in the usual way, while this one could only be made in person at The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, south Wales. From 30 September 2025, visitors there could strike a coin themselves, and this was the design they struck. Royal Mint coin designer Emma Noble created it as a simpler scene than the pack coin. Mr Monopoly is caught mid-leap over the GO sign, with the Monopoly game board filling the space behind him and the MONOPOLY logo set as a legend below. The word GO and a small ©HASBRO credit, for the licence from the game's owner, complete the reverse. No mintage has been published for it. The obverse carries the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, the same as on the pack coin, so the reverse is the only way to tell the two apart.
