• Home nation colour editions: Four colour-printed brilliant uncirculated editions for Team England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each with a privy mark, sold singly from 20 June 2022. About 7,425 of the England coin and about 5,000 of each of the others were made.

Birmingham staged the XXII Commonwealth Games in 2022, and The Royal Mint's 50p for the event was designed by Natasha Preece. Her reverse places the symbol of Commonwealth Sport against the interlocking geometric pattern that covers the facade of the Library of Birmingham, and sets BIRMINGHAM 2022 COMMONWEALTH GAMES in lines underneath. Her initials, N·P, are on the reverse. On the obverse, Jody Clark's portrait of the Queen sits with the date and the words 50 PENCE. The coin was not released into circulation. Collectors could buy it in the 2022 annual coin sets, in a brilliant uncirculated pack issued on 20 June 2022, in trade packaging and in a coin and stamp cover, and visitors to the Royal Mint Experience could strike their own for part of that summer. Four further brilliant uncirculated editions, printed in colour for the teams of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each carried a privy mark.
