K 10p: King Arthur
The K 10p shows King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table gathered around a large Gothic letter K. It brings myth and legend into the Royal Mint's 2018 A to Z of Britain. It is one of the 26 A to Z 10p coins and one of the 31 10p designs struck since 1968.

Rarity: Very rareTwo things set the price of a King Arthur 10p: which year it carries and what state it is in. A 2019 coin is harder to find than a 2018 and is priced higher as a result. The many small figures around the table lose their faces and outlines quickly with wear, so a crisp coin stands out. Coins still in the Royal Mint's packaging sell for about the same as a crisp coin from change.
K 10p mintage and rarity
With 304,000 struck for circulation, the K 10p (King Arthur) is the joint sixth rarest of the 30 ranked 10p designs and has the joint eighth lowest mintage of all 194 circulating UK designs. That puts it in the Very rare band, for mintages under 500,000.
The next rarer 10p is the Q 10p (Queuing), with 303,000 struck, and the next more common is the Capercaillie 10p, with 7,100,000 struck.
Its lowest circulation mintage was in 2019, with 84,000 struck.

How to spot a K 10p
A round table ringed with figures and a decorative K in the middle is the K 10p. The crowned king sits at the top of the table, facing out, and the knights nearest the bottom rim are seen from behind. There is no value or date on the design side; the heads side legend gives TEN PENCE and 2018 or 2019. A 2019 K shows exactly the same table as a 2018.
K 10p design
King Arthur takes K in the Royal Mint's 2018 alphabet of Britain, and the letter's verse speaks of a kingdom held together by tales of dragons, swords and round tables. Arthur is among the most famous figures of myth, said to have ruled from Camelot and to have gathered his knights at the Round Table. Whether he existed is still argued over. What can be said with any confidence, according to the Royal Mint, is that a man called Arthur led British warriors against invading Saxons and Jutes at some point in the fifth or sixth century AD. The coin looks down on the Round Table itself. Arthur, crowned, sits at the top of the circle among his knights, more knights are seen from behind along the bottom with crosses on their backs, and a Gothic K stands at the centre of the table with rays spreading out from it. K 10p questions
Is the King Arthur 10p a rare coin?
It is scarcer than an ordinary 10p. Coins dated 2018 and 2019 were both released into circulation in small runs, and a 2019 K turns up far less often than a 2018.
